Second Grade Teacher
I graduated from James Madison High School in San Antonio. I earned my undergraduate degree from the University of North Texas and my masters from Texas State University.
I feel it is important to instill a desire in students to be life-long learners so I am constantly attending workshops, participating in professional development, and reading books hoping to be a good example for my students and continue to learn and grow as a teacher.
I am so excited to be part of Rains Elementary and rthe second grade team! Second grade is a year full of growth as they learn to become independent readers and take ownership of their learning. I love sharing my days with students as they explore and discover our world.
This year will be my 14th year teaching. I have taught kindergarten, second grade grade, and third grade in various schools throughout Texas. While we are so excited to settle down in one spot (We love this area!), the traveling as allowed me to gather a wealth of resources and experiences that help enrich my classroom and teaching.
I have been married 22 years! My husband Scott Pederson is the Offensive Coordinator/Head Track coach and teaches math at the high school. Our daughter Casey is a senior at SFA. Ax’em Jacks! She is studying to become a teacher/ coach and will be student teaching this fall with Lindale ISD before graduating in December. Our son Ty will be a freshman at Louisiana Tech. Go Dogs! He is studying computer science with a focus on game design and graphics and is a pole vaulter. We are very proud of them both. We have 3 dogs and 2 cats that share our home.
When not teaching or working on things for school, I love spending time with family and friends. I am a huge college football and baseball fan. I also enjoy curling up in my chair with chocolate, a good book, and my little dog Buster.
