I graduated from James Madison High School in San Antonio. I earned my undergraduate degree from the University of North Texas and my masters from Texas State University.
I feel it is important to instill a desire in students to be life-long learners so I am constantly attending workshops, participating in professional development, and reading books hoping to be a good example for my students and continue to learn and grow as a teacher.
I am so excited to be joining Rains Elementary and returning to kindergarten! Kindergarten is such an amazing age. I love sharing my days with students as they explore and discover our world.
This year will be my 12th year teaching. I have taught kindergarten, second grade grade, and third grade in various schools throughout Texas. While we are very ready to settle down in one spot (We love this area!), the traveling as allowed me to gather a wealth of resources and experiences that help enrich my classroom and teaching.
I have been married 20 years! My husband Scott Pederson is the Offensive Coordinator/Head Track coach and teaches math at the high school. Our daughter Casey will be a sophomore this year at SFA. Ax’em Jacks! She is studying to become a teacher/coach. Our son Ty will be a junior here at Rains. He plays football and is a pole vaulter. We are very proud of them both. We have 3 dogs, 2 cats, and a tortoise that share our home.
When not teaching or working on things for school, I love spending time with family and friends. I am a huge college football and baseball fan. I also enjoy curling up in my chair with chocolate, a good book, and my little dog Buster.
